All sessions take place at The Picture House’s 1921 theater and the Satellite Film Lab.
A rundown of programs is below.
Week 1: Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland - July 6-10: Just in time for the 150th anniversary of Lewis Carroll’s classic children’s tale, attend this program for a week of movie-making inspired by Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Enjoy finished films on the big screen at The Picture House in September at the Education@TPH Student Celebration and participants will be allowed to take home their work.
Week 2: Animation Vacation - July 13-17: Each day, participants will be exposed to the different aspects of animation, from stop motion to claymation to Lego animation. Create short animated films and watch them screened on the big screen at The Picture House at the Education@TPH Student Celebration, and take home a link to your movie as well.
Week 3: Make a Music Video - July 20-24: Participants will learn to make a music video for two popular songs that students love. Learn songs, dance moves, how to construct a story and how to work the camera. Enjoy finished films on the big screen at The Picture House in September at the Education@TPH Student Celebration, and take home a link to movies also.
Week 4: Comedy Acting and Improv - July 27-31: Learn about the art of comedy acting and improv while working as a group to explore characters, drama skills, and improvised scenes. The class will culminate with a live improv show on The Picture House stage and the students will perform an encore at the Education@TPH Student Celebration in September.
The cost for The Picture House summer program is $300 per week for half-days and $495 per week for full days. A snack is provided each day and lunch is provided Fridays.
