Pelham's Picture House Hosts Advance 'Boyhood' Showing

PELHAM, N.Y. --  After 12 years in the making, the highly anticipated and critically acclaimed film "Boyhood" will have its Westchester premiere at The Picture House in Pelham on Wednesday, July 9, at 7 p.m., before opening nationwide on Friday, July 18.

The screening will be hosted by Picture House critic-in-residence Marshall Fine and will be followed by a discussion with the film’s producer, John Sloss.

Sloss has been executive producer of more than 50 films, including the Academy Award-winning "The Fog of War" and "Boys Don't Cry." Other credits include "Bernie," "City of Hope," "Friends with Kids," "A Scanner Darkly," "Far From Heaven" and "Before Sunrise." 

Sloss is known in the industry for his tenacity, passion and great taste in film. His strategic approach to film production and distribution has been regarded as revolutionary. In 2007, he founded the New York-based FilmBuff, a leading distributor of digital entertainment. In 2010, he co-founded Producers Distribution Agency, which has released the films Banksy’s "Exit Through the Gift Shop," "Senna," "The Way" and "Brooklyn Castle." He has also served as an adjunct professor in the graduate film program at Tisch School of the Arts at New York University.

"Boyhood" premiered at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival and subsequently competed in the 64th Berlin International Film Festival, where Richard Linklater won the Silver Bear for Best Director. Most recently, Linklater won the Best Writer/Director Award at the 19th annual Nantucket Film Festival. Advance reviews of "Boyhood" have been overwhelmingly positive.

Tickets to the special advance screening and post-film discussion are $12 for general admission, $10 for students and seniors, $6 for members and are available at www.thepicturehouse.org or at the box office, 175 Wolfs Lane, Pelham.
