“Pelican Pop 2,” will showcase young performers from the Pelham middle and high schools in a rock-show setting.

The kids will perform the contemporary music and songs they love both as soloists and in groups.

“Last year proved what a great pool of young musical talent exists in the Pelham school system; we had a great turnout of enthusiastic music fans and the kids on stage all did a such tremendous job," show organizer Mark Sidgwick said in a statement. "This year looks like being even more amazing.”

Although the concert is primarily for the kids and their friends and families, all are encouraged to come and support their creative efforts.

Some of the artists being covered this year are Katy Perry, The Black Keys, The Beatles, Ed Sheeran, and Guns ’N Roses. Students also will perform some original songs.

The show will feature short sets from two popular local teen groups, the all-girl Bandanas, and high-school rock band The Waves.

Among the soloists will be Matt Nichuals and Maggie Solimine. More than 20 kids are slated to perform.

As part of the Pelican Pop experience, there will be an after-show “hang out” for the performers to mingle with their friends and fans. Coffee, tea, soft drinks and desserts will be served in the lounge following the show.

Tickets are available at the door; $20 for adults and $10 for kids.
