This year's toy drive for families in need brought in 501 holiday gifts that were donated to the Open Door Family Medical Center in Sleepy Hollow.

The total number of gifts collected exceeded last year's toy drive by 189, school officials said. The toy drive was organized and operated by the school's Spanish Club.

“The members of the Spanish Club are most appreciative of the generosity of the entire Irvington Middle School community,” said Allyson Tempest, Spanish Club adviser.

After the gifts were collected, students and teachers had a wrap-a-thon before bringing the gifts to the Open Door Family Medical Center, school officials said.
