A local woman is facing a host of charges after allegedly fleeing from police on the Long Island Expressway

Just before 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 26, a trooper attempted to stop a black BMW 650i on the eastbound LIE between exits 70 and 71 in the town of Brookhaven, New York State Police said.

While fleeing, the driver, Sade Williams, age 22, of East Patchogue, exited at Old Country Road ramp, lost control and struck a sign before fleeing on foot, according to police. 

After a short foot pursuit, Williams was taken into custody.

Williams was charged with the following

  • Fleeing officer in a motor vehicle,
  • Reckless endangerment,
  • Resisting arrest, 
  • Obstruction of governmental administration,
  • Criminal possession of a controlled substance,
  • Aggravated unlicensed operation.

Williams was released on an appearance ticket returnable to Suffolk County First District Court on Monday, June 6.
