Kyle Dine, who has become famous in certain circles for his allergy awareness songs and viral videos, is scheduled to be the main event at Glen Island Park on Oct. 15 at the popular event, which is one of Food Allergy Research and Education’s flagship fundraising and community-building programs.
FARE is the nation’s leading nonprofit organization dedicated to food allergy, having raised more than $24 million since its founding in 2004 to fund programs that support the 15 million Americans that live with food allergies.
“For more than a decade, the FARE Walk for Food Allergy has united communities in support of those managing this potentially life-threatening disease,” FARE CEO James Baker, Jr. stated. “By fundraising as a walker in the event or donating to a team, you are supporting advances in research, advocacy and education that can change, and save, lives.”
At the event, there will be several activities for families, including Teal Pumpkin Project crafts, a DJ, face painting and bouncy castles. The ceremony will be emceed by ABC meteorologist Lee Goldberg, with performances by Dine and Stephanie Sorkin, who will be singing her children’s book, “Nutley, the Nut-Free Squirrel.”
Michelle Isban, who is the co-chair of this year’s Westchester walk said she felt fortuitous that the walk is coming to New Rochelle.
“This walk is so important to our family,” she said. “Not only are we supporting an amazing organization, but we are teaming up to help spread awareness. Education and awareness is the key to keeping those with food allergies safe and included.”
