Austin Paul Shin is back behind bars after being arrested for the second time for dealing fentanyl, this time in Loudoun County, not Alexandria, according to officials.

On Jan. 26, members of the sheriff office's Drug and Gang and Tactical Support Units conducted a search warrant at a home in Aldie, leading to the apprehension of the 24-year-old outside of his residence.

The arrest came following a months-long investigation into the distribution of fentanyl in Loudoun County.

During the operation on Friday, investigators seized:

  • Thousands of fentanyl pills;
  • A handgun;
  • Ammunition;
  • More than $6,000 in cash;
  • 10.2 ounces of marijuana.

Shin is no stranger to law enforcement, having been previously arrested in Alexandria with approximately 1,000 fentanyl pills and a handgun. He was on probation for those charges when he was arrested on Friday.

“I am committed to ending the distribution of fentanyl in Loudoun County, and this is an important arrest in our ongoing war to hold distributors of this lethal drug accountable,” Sheriff Mike Chapman said in a statement following Shin's apprehension.

He was charged with:

  • Three counts of distribution of fentanyl;
  • Two counts of possession with intent to distribute;
  • Three counts of distribution of narcotics on or near school property;
  • Possession, manufacturing, and distribution of a weapon of terrorism (fentanyl);
  • Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon;
  • Possession of a firearm while in possession of narcotics.

Shin is being held without bond at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center in Leesburg.
