PELHAM, N.Y. A.G. Williams Painting Co. has partnered with Her Haven to deliver complete room remodels for two Bridgeport, Conn., women.
At A.G. Williams, we feel it is important to give back to the local community, said Paul Viggiano, director of business administration and marketing, in a news release announcing the donation. The goal of Her Haven is complementary to our charitable philosophy of making a positive impact in all the areas that we serve.
Old Greenwich-based A.G. Williams, with a store on Fifth Avenue in Pelham, donated professional craftsmanship for the $2,500 projects while Fairfield Universitys Interior Design program and Habitat for Humanity provided additional design and construction services.
Nordia Black and Elizabeth Bosques were selected by Her Haven as being inspiring women in need of financial help, said Carey Dougherty, founder and executive director of Her Haven.
These are the women that Her Haven is proud to thank and honor through the gift of a well-designed haven , said Dougherty. Her Haven accomplishes its mission by engaging the community in volunteerism and by giving design students invaluable hands-on experience that helps give a voice to these outstanding women by recognizing their struggles and the challenges they face.
The project for Black has been completed, while Bosques has not yet started. Bosques is in the process of closing on her new home, and Dougherty anticipates the project will begin once she moves in likely early August.
Dougherty was thankful to A.G. Williams for showing Black and Bosques that they are not alone.
When a company as regarded in our community as A.G. Williams donates its time and professional services, it ends up being about more than just paint: It is a demonstration to these women that what they do and who they are matters, said Dougherty. We are so grateful to A.G. Williams Painting Co. for their professionalism and for their commitment to giving back to their community.
Dougherty added that this could spur Black, Bosques and future clients to take their own design ideas and extend them to other areas of their home, because all it takes is a simple can of paint.
Viggiano was glad to help deserving women with interior design service, calling it genuine and perfect.
The fact that college design students were going to be involved in the process as a learning experience was also very intriguing to me, said Viggiano. A.G. Williams is always seeking ways to give back to the local community and the best way for us to give back is with our service. After speaking with Carey, Her Haven seemed like a great partnership for A.G. Williams."
Dougherty said applicants or others who wish to nominate a candidate can do so through a brief two-page application on Her Havens website .
