The village’s annual free holiday parking program, which begins Friday, allows drivers to park for two free hours a day. The program runs through Dec. 27.

The free parking is at meters on Fifth Avenue and Wolfs Lane, which have red bags covering them, the village said. Drivers who stay in a spot longer than two hours will be ticketed.

Motorists who need more time can park in public lots and at other locations, which have 12-hour meters.

Village police are using digital cameras to determine how long people are parked in one spot.

The village board passed the resolution during its Dec. 4 meeting.

“We are carrying on a tradition of offering free parking to residents to encourage local shopping,” Trustee Adam Kagan said  in an e-mail.
