The GYMGUYZ bring state-of-the-art equipment to the door step, park, school or work space anywhere in Westchester County.

Founded by Josh York, a Long Island native, the training business's first franchise belongs to Langer, a 24-year-old who hopes to bring the training business to Westchester.

"I met Josh York, through a mutual connection and was immediately intrigued with how he is trying to change the fitness industry by bringing the gym to the client," Langer said. "With fitness always being a passion of mine and having a background in finance and operations management, I saw this as a great opportunity to utilize my entire skill set."

York said he began GYMGUYZ with an idea, one laptop and one van.

"I conducted business at the dining room table with a cordless phone and one folder with a few client names," he said. "When I wasn’t training clients, I drove the GYMGUYZ van every day, up and down the Long Island Expressway in an effort to market the new business."

GYMGUYZ now has a full-time office staff, 10 vans plus a dedicated sales vehicle and has opened the business to franchisees.

"Sam (Langer) is the first of our plans to aim high with a goal of 200 franchises within the next five years," York said. "We believe in the philosophy that the mind and body work hand in hand. A positive attitude is key when trying to reach each client’s goal."

Langer, who played football, baseball, soccer and golf growing up in Westchester, said his personal training background fits his new business perfeclty.

"Sports helped me develop life skills such as hard work, determination, teamwork and passion for success," Langer said. "Because of my intensive training regimen, I was able to excel in these sports and even play in college."

Langer's Westchester venture also fits the suburban lifestyle he knows so well.

"After working a corporate job, it was easy to see how someone can fall into an unhealthy lifestyle," he said. "Waking up early and not getting out of work until late, in addition to long commutes, can take its toll on someone both mentally and physically. The convenience of having a certified trainer come directly to you not only saves you time, but eliminates the hassles of dealing with overcrowded gyms, lack of guidance and motivation."
